Young Indian batter Riyan Parag had an impressive start to his IPL 2024 campaign, as he steadied the ship for Rajasthan Royals in their tournament opener against Lucknow Super Giants. However, the Assam batter had a lucky escape when Mohsin Khan dropped an easy catch to give him a lifeline. 

The incident occurred in the thirteenth over when LSG skipper KL Rahul continued Bishnoi from one end to break the well-established stand between Samson and Parag. 

After conceding five runs, including a boundary, in his first two balls, Bishnoi invited Parag for a lofted shot with a well-disguised flighted delivery. 

The batter fell in the trap, as he top-edged it, with the ball gobbling up in the air for a long time. However, Mohsin Khan, stationed in the short fine leg, dropped a sitter, giving the batter a lifeline. 

His poor fielding effort received a lot of flak from Bishnoi, who expressed his disappointment instantly after the dropped chance. The young leg spinner has had a forgettable day at the office, going wicketless for 29 runs in his three overs so far. 

Parag was finally dismissed by a well-directed short ball from Naveen-ul-Haq, who had earlier removed Jos Buttler, thanks to KL Rahul's acrobatic catch. 

As of writing, the hosts are set to finish on a high note, placed at 142 for three in 14.5 overs, with Samson unbeaten at one end.
