Rashid Khan was on a roll vs Pakistan on Tuesday (Twitter)
You know something exciting is about to happen when Rashid Khan is on the field. There was no difference on Tuesday when Afghanistan took on Pakistan in the first of the three-match ODI series at Hambantota's Mahinda Rajapaksa International Stadium.
Rashid struck in his first over, pinning Agha Salman leg-before for a struggling 29-ball seven. However, he was not making headlines for that reason. His brilliant fielding effort during the 36th over of Pakistan's innings demonstrated that he always gives his all on the field.
Batting on 61 off 93 balls, Imam-ul-Haq shimmied down the track to hit Mohammad Nabi over mid-on. The timing, however, wasn't as ideal as Imam would have liked. Placing himself on mid-on, Rashid had so much ground to cover to complete the catch, and the 24-year-old quickly ran backwards to do his job.
Rashid, however, was lying on the ground and appeared to have dislocated his shoulder in the process. The replay showed it was not that serious, and Rashid was only down due to extreme pain. In fact, he came back to strike another wicket later on, as Shaheen Shah Afridi became his second victim.
Here's the spectacular Rashid Khan catch:
Pakistan, meanwhile, were all out for 201 in 47.1 overs. Afghanistan, at the time of writing, are 1/0 after 1 over.
