In preparation for the upcoming Asia Cup 2023, Pakistan are scheduled to play a short three-match One-Day International (ODI) series against Afghanistan in Sri Lanka starting today.
However, the main goal for Pakistan remains the Asia Cup 2023, which will see them lock horns against India, and Nepal in Group A. Pakistan's campaign gets underway on August 30, when they take on first-time entrants Nepal at Multan.
Skipper Babar Azam, who has been in rich form in the recently concluded Lanka Premier League (LPL) 2023 for Colombo Strikers was seen facing off against the likes of Shaheen Shah Afridi and Haris Rauf in the nets.
Azam finished LPL 2023 as second-highest run-getter with 261 runs behind Wanindu Hasaranga (279).
Both Afridi and Rauf pose the most threat to batters, given their expertise in moving the ball at sheer pace. Apart from Azam, opener Iman-Ul-Haq could also be seen having a hit in the nets against the duo, who looked lethal as ever, even in practice.

Interestingly, ahead of the three-ODI series against Afghanistan, Afridi could also been seen batting in the nets, and whacking part-time spinner Azam all-over during his practice session.
The first-two ODIs (August 22 and August 24) between Pakistan and Sri Lanka will be played at Hambantota, while the third and final encounter will be held at Colombo on August 26.
