In an unforeseen scene which has never happened before on broadcast, rain arrived at Brian Lara Stadium just when the toss took place on Monday for Match 39 of the T20 World Cup 2024 between New Zealand and Papua New Guinea.

Simon Doull, who was officiating the toss, had no option but to hurry both captains Kane Williamson and Assad Vala, as ground staff were ready to cover the pitch and the outfield.
