Riding on Ajinkya Rahane's stellar half century, Leicestershire recorded a thrilling final-over win over Hampshire in the second quarterfinal of the ongoing English One-Day Cup.

Coming at number four, Rahane hammered 70 runs off 86 balls, playing an instrumental role in Leicestershire's memorable victory.

Batting first, Hampshire posted a respectable total of 290 runs in 50 overs, thanks to a scintillating ton from skipper Nick Gubbins.

In reply, Leicestershire had a shaky start to their innings, losing the crucial wickets of Roman Walker, Sol Budinger and captain Lewis Hill.

However, Ajinkya Rahane emerged as their saviour with the bat, stitching a magnificent fourth-wicket stand with veteran Australian batter, Peter Handscomb.

Rahane, who once used to be India's mainstay in Tests, struck two boundaries and three massive sixes for his match-defining knock.

Hailed for his glorious stroke play, Rahane was a delight for spectators, who enjoyed his batting exhibition at Grace Road, Leicester.

Although Hampshire had several lethal bowlers, particularly Kyle Abbott and Bradley Wheal, the stylish Mumbaikar dominated each one of them.

Handscomb was even more destructive than his Indian teammate, contributing 74 runs off just 53 deliveries. They formed a brilliant 128-run partnership, helping Leicestershire chase the target with only one ball to spare.
