Trent Boult played his last T20 for New Zealand in the T20 World Cup, and as he exited the game with a standing ovation, the pacer poured his heart out on his emotional journey.

New Zealand, one of the top cricketing nations in the world, failed to advance to the Super 8 stage of the 2024 T20 World Cup.

Moreover, ahead of their final group game against PNG, Kiwis’ frontline pacer Trent Boult announced that this will be his final outing in the T20 World Cup as he won’t be around for the next edition.

Trent Boult picked up 2 wickets in his four overs against PNG and exited the game with a guard of honour from his teammates and a standing ovation from the fans.

That being said, Boult opened up on his raw emotions upon exit from the T20 World Cup and expressed disappointment at the Kiwis not being able to make it to the next stage.

"It was a little bit weird. Few emotions in the last couple of days or so. Unusual feeling. Gutted to miss out going ahead in the tournament," Boult said.

Interestingly, Boult dropped hints on his international retirement saying he is yet to make up his mind on playing for NZ again after the World Cup.

"[On whether this is his last game for New Zealand] I am not sure. Not in a position to comment right now. Last game of the World Cup for us. Small total to chase, we have our focus on us," he added.

Additionally, Trent Boult cherished his friendship and on-field partnership with teammate Tim Southee.

"Tim Southee is a very good friend of mine. Enjoyed the partnership with him over the years. He is a great friend off the field as well."

Boult also backed New Zealand for its past glory and said that one bad tournament does not mean they are not good enough all of a sudden.

"I attempted a yorker but its a great stage to be playing cricket. Enjoyed the game. Many emotions in the camp, we are off the ball. T20 is a short format and that's all it takes. A little disappointment but the boys have done well in the last part of the tournament. A tricky wicket but I back the boys to get that," Boult concluded.

Overall, Trent Boult said the wicket was tricky. But a 79-run chase should be a cakewalk for the Kiwis.
