The St. Kitts and Nevis Patriots and the Barbados Royals are crossing swords in the ninth match of the CPL 2024 at the Warner Part in Bassterre, St. Kitts. 

Patriots stuttred to a fighting total after a disastrous start

The Royals won the toss in the game and put the Patriots to bat. The Patriots had a disastrous start to their innings as they lost three wickets for 0. It was a 40 off 27 from Wanindu Hasaranga and a 30 off 20 from Mikyle Louis that stabilised the ship for them.

The Royals, however, made another comeback around the half-way stage of the first innings. They picked up three wickets for just two runs during this phase and put the Patriots into the backfoot once more. But Josh Clarkson and Ryan John played two useful cameos and ensured that their team got to a fighting total of 153/8 in their 20 overs. 

Kyle Mayers gives the Royals an early blow

In their previous outing, Quinton de Kock and Rahkeem Cornwall gave the Royals a blazing start and took the game away from the opposition very early in the chase. The management might have hoped for a similar start from the duo. However, that did not happen as Kyle Mayers got the better of Rahkeem Cornwall in the second delivery of the innings.

Mayers bowled a full delivery at the off stump line that moved away a bit after pitching. Cornwall was looking to play his trademark pick up shot over square leg, however, he missed the ball completely. The ball clipped off the bails of the off and middle stump and resulted in the departure of Cornwall. 

The early wicket of Cornwall had the Royals under pressure. At the time of writing this article, the Royals are stationed at 52/2 in 5.4 overs
