The Barbados Royals and the Antigua and Barbuda Falcons are crossing swords in the 13th match of the CPL 2024 at the Kensington Oval in Bridgetown, Barbados.

The Falcons and the Royals are looking for a win to maintain their momentum and place in the top four in the points table. In an important game for the campaign of both the teams, Rovman Powell, the skipper of the Royals, won the toss and put the Falcons into bat.

The two openers of the Falcons, Brandon King and Justin Greaves made a decent start for the Royals. They stitched together a partnership of 55 runs in the first six overs before King was sent back to the hut by Keshav Maharaj.

Billings and Greaves solidified the start for the Falcons

Following King's departure, Sam Billings joined Greaves in the middle, and the two formed a strong partnership. While Greaves showcased his elegance, Billings worked the ball for singles and doubles, punctuated with the occasional boundary, effectively keeping the scoreboard ticking.

While the two batters displayed great skills in the middle, the Royals' fielding looked average. The Rovman Powell-led side dropped catches and failed to field a few easy chances, allowing the Billings and Greaves to easily manoeuvre in the middle.

Cornwall elevated the standards amidst average fielding efforts by the Royals

However, amidst such average efforts, Rahkeem Cornwall put in a brilliant effort during the ninth over of the innings. On the last delivery, Maharaj bowled a full delivery at the pads of the batter. Billings worked it away towards fine leg, which was travelling at a great pace. The ball would have run away to the fence for four runs if not for Cornwall.

The big man, Rahkeem, dived in time and prevented the ball from going towards the fence. The batters were only able to take a single. Thus, the effort saved the Royals three runs. The effort immediately earned Cornwall applause from his teammates and the spectators.

At the time of writing, the Falcons have just finished their innings. They have posted 176/5 in their 20 overs.
