Riding on bowlers' exceptional performance with the new ball, five-time champions Mumbai Indians had a dream start to their fifth IPL 2024 match against Royal Challengers Bengaluru.

However, a scintillating third wicket stand between Rajat Patidar and skipper Faf du Plessis steadied the ship for the visitors, ensuring a respectable total for them in the high-voltage clash.

Meanwhile, in an interesting incident, MI's ex-captain Rohit Sharma committed a blunder during the game, with his bizarre DRS suggestion leaving his side with only one review.

The incident occurred during the eleventh over of the match when MI skipper Hardik Pandya turned up to his trump card Jasprit Bumrah to break the third wicket partnership.

After keeping things tight in his first five deliveries, the Indian speedster bowled a nasty bumper, which took Patidar by surprise. As soon as Ishan Kishan caught the ball, the MI players appealed for a caught behind.

However, as the on-field umpire declared Patidar not out, the MI players, along with ex-captain Rohit Sharma, suggested Pandya to go upstairs.

But unfortunately for MI, replay showed a clear gap between bat and ball, with the third umpire asking his on-field colleague to stay with the original the decision.

However, Patidar was eventually dismissed off Gerald Coetzee's body-line delivery soon after completing his fifty.

As of writing, the visitors were in a spot of bother, placed at 111 for four in 13 overs, with Du Plessis and Karthik batting on 44* and 1*, respectively.
