Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) batter Will Jacks' much-anticipated debut in the Indian Premier League (IPL 2024) took a swift turn as he departed early in the clash against Mumbai Indians (MI) at the fortress of Wankhede Stadium.

With Mumbai winning the toss and opting to bowl first, the pressure was on RCB to set a competitive total. However, their hopes were dashed early on as Virat Kohli fell cheaply, and all eyes turned to the newcomer, Will Jacks.

Jacks, eager to make his mark in his maiden IPL appearance, faced the daunting task of stabilising the innings alongside his teammates.

However, fate had other plans as he found himself walking back to the pavilion in just the fourth over of the match.

Akash Madhwal, making his presence felt with a fiery spell, managed to break through Jacks' defense with a well-directed delivery. Attempting to assert himself with a powerful pull shot, Jacks failed to connect cleanly, resulting in a miscue that landed straight into the hands of Tim David at mid-on.

The disappointment was palpable as Jacks trudged off the field, his debut innings cut short at just 8 runs.

The early setback for RCB further compounded their challenges, putting additional pressure on the remaining batsmen to stabilise the innings and set a competitive total against the formidable Mumbai Indians.

At the time of writing, RCB at 105-3 in 11.4 overs.
