In a significant development, Mumbai Indians have named Hardik Pandya as their captain  for IPL 2024 as confirmed by MI's Global Head of Performance, Mahela Jayawardene. In a major leadership shift for the impending 2024 season, the Mumbai Indians unveiled a significant announcement today. 

The distinguished all-rounder, Hardik Pandya, is poised to assume the captaincy, succeeding the iconic and beloved Rohit Sharma, who holds the title of the team's longest-serving and immensely successful captain. This transition marks a pivotal moment for the Mumbai Indians, entrusting the reins to Hardik Pandya, a renowned figure in the world of cricket, as they navigate the upcoming season. 


This marks the end of legendary Rohit Sharma's captaincy era. Rohit's captaincy record is commendable, with 158 matches, 87 victories, 67 losses, and 4 tied games. His leadership journey began when Mumbai Indians had zero IPL titles, and he now steps down as captain with the team boasting an impressive tally of five titles. 

On the other hand, Pandya's appointment brings fresh energy to the squad, promising an exciting chapter for the Mumbai Indians in the upcoming season. Fans eagerly await the dynamic all-rounder's captaincy debut.
