The Big Bash League's 14th season has already started making memories with some stellar performances in the league. However, along with shining debut performances and picturesque fielding efforts, there are some hilarious incidents too that add up to the flavour of the game.

In the latest clash between the Melbourne Stars and the Sydney Thunder, Thunder's Cameron Bancroft was dismissed in a rather comical way as Usama Mir bowled him out. However, what made the dismissal special was the manner in which the ball dislodged the stumps.

Usama Mir Threads The Needle As Bancroft Regret Poor Shot Selection

In the third ball of the sixth over, Usama Mir delivered a full-length ball aimed at the stumps. Bancroft attempted an audacious reverse hit but missed, allowing the ball to pass between his legs and knock the bails off. It was kind of like a soccer player deftly passing the ball through an opponent's legs while they just stand there, stunned.

Mir managed to thread the needle and secure a crucial wicket for the Stars as Bancroft walked back after 21 off 16 deliveries. Notably, Mir also contributed with his other prized scalp of Oliver Davies in the very next ball with an absolute screamer.

Usama Mir delivered a full and tossed-up leg break that Davies attempted to drive uppishly back towards the bowler. With remarkable athleticism, Mir dived to his right and pulled off a stunning catch off his own bowling, marking his third wicket in BBL 14.

Thunder Rack Up Thunderous Total

In the match, after the Thunder were sent to bat first by the Stars they started off strong. But Mir's breakthrough caught Thunder off guard as they struggled at 45-3 at the end of 5.4 overs. However, Sam Billings clobbered the Stars' bowlers to rack up a massive 72 off 39 with Jason Sangha contributing with his 33. At the end of the their innings, the David Warner-led side racked up a fighting 182 to challenge the Stars for an exciting clash.
