An exceptional moment of fielding brilliance was witnessed at the ACC Men’s Emerging Asia Cup 2023 semi-final match as Pakistan A's Omair Yousuf turned the tide against Sri Lanka A with a magnificent catch.

Omair Yousuf grabbed a catch for the ages

It all happened in the 44th over when Arshad Iqbal unleashed a quick short delivery on Sri Lankan batsman Dushan Hemantha. Hemantha attempted a risky pull shot but was overwhelmed by the sheer speed of Iqbal's delivery.

As the ball went up in the air between the mid-wicket and long-on region, Yousuf ran quickly, diving full-stretch to his left to intercept the airborne ball, leaving the spectators and his teammates in astonishment.

The stunning catch was the highlight of the match where Pakistan A secured a commendable victory over Sri Lanka A by 60 runs. They now gear up to face off India A in the final of the compeition.

Coming to the game, the Men in Green were absolutely clinical, defending a challenging target of 323 and restricting Sri Lanka to 262 runs within 45.4 overs.

Iqbal’s superb bowling performance further established Pakistan's dominance in the game, bagging five crucial wickets for 37 runs. The combined efforts of Mubasir Khan and Sufiyan Muqeem, with two wickets each, helped Pakistan A defend the score.

Despite a strong resistance from Sri Lanka's Sahan Arachchige and Avishka Fernando, who scored 97 runs each, their efforts fell short of achieving the target.

Earlier in the match, half-centuries from Omair Bin Yousuf and Captain Mohammad Haris guided Pakistan A to a massive total of 322 runs.

Meanwhile, the focus will now be on the upcoming final where Pakistan A will lock horns with arch-rivals India A on Sunday, July 2023 at the R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo. While Pakistan A will be seeking redemption for their defeat in the group stage, India A will aim to replicate their dominant performance to secure the coveted silverware.
