Mark Wood has been creating a lot of buzz in Ashes 2023 with his rapid bullets rattling Aussies consistently. He has made a huge impact in the series so far and with England in formidable position, Mark Wood has again made Aussie batters dance to his tunes. He has got three big wickets and two of those came on short deliveries that were too hot to handle for Smith and Head.
Talking about Smith's wicket, it turned out to be 100th Test wicket for Mark Wood and a crucial one that has opened the floodgates for Australia's innings defeat now. It was a short delivery, angling into leg from Wood ,and Smith tried to pull it. However, all he could manage was a faint edge back to the keeper, Bairstow who took it safely to shatter Australian hopes.
At the end of Day 3, Australia are 113-4 and still trail by 162 runs after England put a mammoth total of 592 runs on the board in their first innings. Australia were below par with the bat in their first innings as well and were bundled out for 317. It looks like England's game now and if they win this, the stage will be set for an entertaining deciding final Test match at Kennington Oval, London.
