The Bangladesh women are taking on the Scotland women in the first match of the Women's T20 World Cup 2024. This match is being played at the iconic Sharjah cricket stadium in Sharjah, United Arab Emirates. 

Nigar Sultana, the captain of the Bangladesh team won the toss in the game and opted to bat first. The Bangladesh team did not have a great start to their innings as Murshida Khatun fell early. 

Rani and Mostary stabilised the ship for Bangladesh

After the fall of the first wicket, Shathi Rani and Sobhana Mostary stitched a partnership of 42 runs and stabilised the ship for the team. Just when it was looking like Bangladesh will move towards a formidable total, they lost two wickets for a single run and were under a bit of pressure. 

The captain of the team, Nigar Sultana Jyoti walked out at this stage and the team expected her to provide solidity to the innings and then take them beyond the 130 mark. However, Sultana failed to get the move on that was expected of her.

She managed to score only 18 runs off 18 deliveries before falling in the last over. Scottish all-rounder, Horley tossed up a delivery at the off stump. Sultana stepped down the track tried to clear the long-off fence. However, she did not get any kind of connection on the ball and was held out in the deep by Kathryn Bryce.

Bangladesh managed to post a fighting total of 119/7 at the end of their 20 overs.
