The ninth edition of the Women's T20 World Cup hast got on the way with the opening match between the hosts, Bangladesh and Scotland. These two teams are taking on each other at the iconic Sharjah Cricket Stadium in UAE.

Nigar Sultana, the skipper of the Bangladesh team won the toss for this match and batted first. Bangladesh would have hoped for a steady start from their openers Shathi Rani and Murshida Khatun. However, this did not happen as left-handed batter did not last long.

Bangladesh opening pair did not get off to a good start

In the third ball of the fifth over, the skipper of Scotland, Kathryn Bryce drew first blood for her team. She bowled a good length delivery at the off stump line and angled it away from the batter. Khatun was looking to go across the line and heave it over the straight field.

However, the batter did not get the right connection in this case. She ended up getting a top edge that was taken by Katherine Fraser at the mid-on region, at the edge of the circle. This brought down curtains on the innings of Murshida.

Notably, Bangladesh will be looking to reach a total of around 120-125. They will feel comfortable at this score as the wicket will slow down in the second innings. Bangladesh have a bunch of quality spinners and they can life hard for the batters with such a total.
