On Sunday, December 22, Nathan McSweeney helped the Brisbane Heat pulled off a great win in the recently concluded match between the Heat and Adelaide Strikers. The Aussie youngster played a valuable knock of 78 (49), which featured 10 fours and two sixes.
The knock has helped the Heat register their second straight win in a row and move top of the table. The Strikers, batting first, put 174/6 on the board. Meanwhile, the Heat, in reply, got off to a terrible start and lost two early wickets. However, McSweeney, who had a tough week, made it a task to stay till the last and seal the win for his team.
McSweeney Unfazed By Australia Snub
It is worth noting that McSweeney, who was a part of Australia's squad for the first three Tests, suffered a heartbreak after he was dropped from the last two Tests. He was replaced by Sam Konstas in the team for the remainder of the series.
Konstas, who played a match-winning knock, took the game till the last over, and it reached a point where the Heat required a single run off the last ball, and Mitchell Swepson was on the strike.
Swepson managed to take a single and seal the win. McSweeney was delighted by the win and also threw a punch in the air.
McSweeney Had A BGT To Forget
McSweeney, who earned a Australia call-up following a impressive show against India A in the U19 series before BGT, had a horror show in the first three Tests. He scored just 15 runs in the six innings he batted.
He averaged just 3.8 with the bat which was the reason behind his ouster from the team.
