The on-going game between Brisbane Heat and Adelaide Strikers at The Gabba in Brisbane, witnessed a cracking moment as Alex Ross played a completely off-the-book shot that left the viewers nay the commentators on their toes. Ross' innovative shot eventually resulted in a boundary.

Ross, who eventually departed for a 20 runs in the Big Bash League game, slammed three brilliant boundaries, two of which came back to back. In the 12th over, Walter bowled a short length delivery on the stumps at a 108 kmph speed, Ross premeditated as he shuffled across to the off-side and ramped it over the keeper for a boundary.

Adelaide Strikers Set 175 for Brisbane Heat in First Innings

Adelaide Strikers posted a competitive total of 174/6 from 20 overs, powered by a last minute heroics from Jamie Overton, who scored 45 runs off 25 balls. The Heat bowlers struck early with Xavier Bartlett dismissing D'Arcy Short, followed by Matthew Short falling to Tom Whitney. The Strikers managed 29 runs in the powerplay but lost two wickets. Chris Lynn (39 runs) and Ollie Pope steadied the innings, but Lynn fell to Will Prestwidge.

The Strikers took the Surge after drinks. Despite middle-order wickets falling, Overton and James Bazley added 37 runs from just 15 balls, while Liam Scott's late cameo produced 25 runs from 11 balls. Tom Whitney was the standout bowler for the Heat, taking two wickets, while Bartlett and Kunhemann were expensive at the death. The Strikers finished strongly, setting the Heat a target of 175.
