Pakistan's emerging talent, Naseem Shah, known for his raw pace and impeccable execution, fell victim to Omair Yousuf's counterattack in a tense PSL eliminator 1 game between Islamabad United and Quetta Gladiators.

Islamabad United were up against Quetta Gladiators in the knockout game of PSL season 9. The former executed their plans with the bat to perfection, putting a par total of 174 runs on board.

Meanwhile, a struggling Quetta Gladiators witnessed a bizarre collapse in the chase that essentially sealed the fate of Eliminator 1 in the powerplay itself.

After Saud Shakeel perished in a soft dismissal, Jason Roy and skipper Rilee Rossouw exposed their lack of game awareness, and in the blink of an eye, Quetta's half the side returned to the hut inside powerplay.

However, with chips down, a young Omair Yousuf rose to the occasion and put up a valiant effort against the odds.

Yousuf rebuilt the innings with Akeal Hosein and managed to put up a brave fight. While the game was far from the Gladiator's reach, Omair Yousuf wanted to finish on a high and, therefore, went after Islamabad United's prime pacer, Naseem Shah, in the death overs.

Omair hit three boundaries off Naseem's 16th over to fetch 18 runs. Initially, Naseem Shah missed the yorker and was punished accordingly. But the pacer once again went for the kill, and this time Omair pulled off an unconventional reverse sweep at third man. While Yousuf messed up the sweep, the ball raced to the ropes after hitting the back of his bat.

For the final delivery of the over, under pressure, Naseem Shah pulled back his length to full, but Omair Yousuf used Shah's pace against him to tickle another boundary towards fine leg.

With that, Yousuf clubbed 18 runs off Naseem Shah, but the bowler eventually had the last laugh as Naseem dismissed Omair in the next over of his final spell.
