In the Bangladesh Premier League's (BPL) opening match between Fortune Barishal and Durbar Rajshahi at the Sher-e-Bangla Stadium, The Barishal are in deep trouble as they are on the cusp of losing the first match of the tournament. The Rajshahi, batting first, put 197/3 on the board.
The Rajshahi, rode on Yasir Ali's 94-runs knock, while skipper Anamul Haque too rose to limelight after a fifty-plus score. In reply, the Tamim Iqbal-led got off to the worst possible start as star batter Najmul Shanto returned to the pavilion for a duck.
It was an embarrassing start for Shanto in the tournament as he registered a golden duck. On the first ball of the 2nd innings, spinner Jishan bowled a beautiful pitched up delivery that Shanto looked to defend, but was caught in front of the wickets.
The umpire was unmoved by the appeal and did not raise his finger. However, the Rajshahi opted for a review. The replay showed three reds and Shanto had to return to the pavilion.
Najmul Shanto Fails In 2024
Shanto has had a year to forget in the shortest format of the game as the right-hand batter has amassed just 358 runs in 20 innings, averaging just 18.84. Further, Shanto's dip in form in Bangladesh Premier League is also a major concern for Bangladesh.
Talking about the ongoing match, Fortune are in deep trouble as they are 92/5 after 11 overs and have a big task ahead of them.
