Experienced Mumbai Indians' spinner Piyush Chawla showcased his prowess yet again, as he provided his side with the priceless wicket of Shikhar Dhawan with a dream delivery. Chawla, who has been MI's man with a golden arm, proved his mettle with the ball once again in the tournament.
After being invited to bat on Mohali's lovely batting deck, Punjab Kings got off to a disastrous start, losing keeper-batter Prabhsimran Singh cheaply. But skipper Shikhar Dhawan and BBL sensation Matthew Short stepped up with the bat, stabilising the Kings' innings with a valuable consolidating stand.
However, MI captain Rohit Sharma's decision to introduce his trump card Piyush Chawla eventually worked wonders for the five-time champions, as the wily spinner outfoxed Dhawan with a brilliant googly, dismissing him for 30.
The incident occurred in the eighth over, when Chawla continued his spell after conceding 10 runs in his first over. After being hit for a boundary straight over his head, the experienced campaigner pulled his length back and bowled a beautiful googly, deceiving Dhawan who had stepped out from the crease.
MI keeper Ishan Kishan cleanly collected the ball and dislodged the bails before Dhawan could get his feet back inside the line. As a result, the veteran opener had to make his way back to the dugout, failing to capitalise on two chances he got before getting out.
