LSG: 125-7 (19.2) - [Ayush Badoni 59* (33), Nicholas Pooran 20 (31); Moeen Ali 2-13 (4), Matheesha Pathirana 2-22 (3.2)]

In an unfortunate turn of events, the IPL match between the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) has been called off due to the persistent rain.

Rain played the perfect spoilsport and it was in no mood to stop as the umpires had a long discussion and eventually decided to call it off.

Rain was predicted for the entire day and it made sure that an evenly poised game had to be abandoned. As a result, both LSG and CSK have got a point each, which hasn’t helped their cause.

The start of the play was delayed due to rain, and once it started, CSK took control of the proceedings after electing to bowl first.

On a track tailor-made for the spinners, MS Dhoni utilised his bowlers to perfection as LSG batters failed to put their best fiit forward.

At one stage, they were 44 for 5, with Moeen Ali being the chief destroyer with figures of 2 for 13 in 4 overs. But once the dust settle in, Ayush Badoni came to life and showed the world why LSG management have backed him so much.

While Nicholas Pooran was struggling to time the ball, Badoni decided to be the chief aggressor and took a special liking towards Deepak Chahar, and Maheesh Theekshana. He clobbered Theekshana for for a six and a boundary in the 17th over and then bludgeoned Chahar to notch up his second fifty in the IPL.

In the end, LSG could only manage 125 for 7 inside 19.2 overs,, when rain god decided to spoil the fun of the match.
