Mohammed Siraj cleaned up South African number five batter and Test debutant David Bedingham to give Team India a much-needed breakthrough late on Day 2. Bedingham's dismissal also ended his 131-run fourth-wicket defiance with senior man and stand-in skipper Dean Elgar.
The wicket marked Siraj's second South African victim of the day, considering the Indian speedster had also trapped Proteas opening batsman Aiden Markram earlier in the innings.
Siraj signals India’s fightback with timely wicket
India's new-ball paceman Mohammed Siraj gave his side a much-needed breakthrough by curtailing David Bedingham's threatening stay at the crease. Siraj broke through Bedingham's defence against the run-of-play, thus bringing an end to the latter's 131-run partnership with centurion Dean Elgar.
His dismissal occurred when South Africa reached within a run of levelling up with India's first innings total of 245 late on Day 2.

Regardless, David Bedingham scored a valiant 56 off 87 balls by the time of his dismissal, thus notching up his maiden half-century on his Test debut. His partnership with Elgar allowed the Proteas to propel past India's first-innings total, as the hosts' lower-order seek to extend their lead going forward.
Apart from castling the South African number five with a cracker of a delivery, Mohammed Siraj had also trapped Aiden Markram with the new ball within his opening spell of the match.
Earlier in the match, South African pacers Kagiso Rabada and debutant Nandre Burger enveloped India's famed batting line-up for just 245 within the opening hour of Day 2. KL Rahul top-scored for the visitors with his 101-run knock from just 137 balls.
The ongoing Centurion Test marks the first match of the two-game series between India and hosts South Africa.
