Dubai Capitals beat Desert Vipers by six wickets in the 13th match of the ILT20 2025 season. The Vipers had a shambolic collapse to finish with 139 runs. In the second inning, the Capitals lost captain Shai Hope early. However, Gulbadin Naib’s unbeaten 78 helped the team secure an emphatic win.
Here's how Dubai Capitals vs Desert Vipers panned out in Dubai:
Capitals vs Vipers Highlights: Chameera scalps 3 wickets
Desert Vipers batted first but lost opener Fakhar Zaman early on just 14 off 10 balls. Chameera bowled a slower ball which deceived Fakhar as he missed a slog sweep attempt to see his stumps get shattered. Alex Hales and Dan Lawrence built a 58-run partnership before Haider Ali got the breakthrough. He went for a long shot but found a fielder at deep mid-wicket. Lawrence was further deceived by Gulbadin on 24 off 19 balls.
Capitals vs Vipers Highlights: Vipers bowled out to lowly total
Apart from Sherfane Rutherford’s 27 off 24 balls, the Desert Vipers batting lineup failed to create an impact. Sam Curran, Azam Khan and Wanindu Hasaranga were dismissed cheaply. With no real contribution from the middle and lower order, the Vipers finished off with a low total of 139 runs. For the Capitals, Chameera and Zahir Khan got 3 wickets each with the rest of the bowling unit chipping a wicket each.
Capitals vs Vipers Highlights: Shai Hopes faces unfortunate run-out
Dubai Capitals had a horror start to the chase as Ben Dunk was dismissed on 13 off 7 balls by Lockie Ferguson followed by Khalid Shah. To add to the Capitals' misery, captain Shai Hope was dismissed off an unfortunate run out. Hope punched a shot to covers and completed a run. He called for another single on an overthrow but Gulbadin Naib at the other end was hesitant. The miscommunications left Hope stranded as Sam Curran launched a direct hit. With that, the Capitals were reduced to 42/3 in the powerplay.
Capitals vs Vipers Highlights: Gulbadin Naib leads Capitals to emphatic victory
Gulbadin Naib didn’t let Shai Hope’s dismissal go to waste. He shouldered the responsibility of the chase and slammed a blazing 78* off 51 balls. He hammered five sixes and three boundaries to power the Dubai Capitals to a six-wicket victory. Sikandar Raza also added 24 off 26 balls as the Capitals cruised through the chase in just 17.4 overs.
