India’s prominent leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal has joined Punjab Kings’ pre-season training camp weeks ahead of the IPL 2025 season. He was spotted training in Punjab gears after the franchise shelled out a whooping INR 18 crore for him during a mega auction.

Yuzvendra Chahal hasn't been in the Indian senior cricket team since 2023. He is the second-highest wicket-taker for India in the format, but still not a part of the T20I side.

But the leg-spinner has not lost hope. He entered the IPL 2025 mega auction after getting released by the Rajasthan Royals. Chahal, as a marquee player, attracted a lot of bidders. However, Punjab Kings stayed till the end to secure his services for a whooping salary of INR 18 crore.

Yuzvendra Chahal joins PBKS pre-season camp

Ahead of the IPL 2025 season inaugural, Yuzvendra Chahal joined Punjab Kings’ camp. He reported to the pre-season camp and met his new teammates, including Shashank Singh.

The leg-spinner appeared cheerful as he came forward to give a warm handshake to everyone, with a bright smile on his face. Moreover, Chahal, who has played for Mumbai Indians, Royal Challengers Bangalore, and Rajasthan Royals, brings experience and proven credentials to the side.

Punjab Kings are still in search of their maiden IPL title despite being a part of the league since its inception in 2008. During the 2025 mega auction, PBKS entered the mega auction with an INR 110.5 crore purse and overhauled the entire squad. Shreyas Iyer, who fetched a record salary of INR 26.75 crore, has been appointed as captain.

Arshdeep Singh issues a playful apology to Chahal 

During the first T20I between India and England, Arshdeep Singh edged past Yuzvendra Chahal to become India’s highest wicket-taker in T20Is with 97 wickets. In a lighthearted moment captured by the BCCI, Arshdeep addressed the achievement and apologised to Chahal with folded hands for breaking his record and also acknowledging the immense contribution of the star leg-spinner to Indian cricket.
