The much-awaited clash between MI Cape Town and Paarl Royals at the Newlands Stadium is underway in Cape Town. The hosts won the toss and decided to bat first. 

The decision did not go well as Cape Town lost an early wicket in the form of Ryan Rickelton. It is worth noting that Rickelton was playing his first match of SA20 2025 and missed the first couple of games because of a slight injury.

Ryan Rickelton Returns After Injury

In the ongoing match, Rickelton started well with a boundary but then fell prey to fellow countryman Bjorn Fortuin. Notably, on the first ball of the 3rd over, Rickelton danced down the track to hit a maximum, but couldn't get the elevation, nor did he timed it well. Meanwhile, David Miller made no mistake and took an easy catch at mid-off.

Rickelton was devastated by his choice of shot and was captured hurling a mouthful to himself for throwing his wicket away. Meanwhile, Fortuin too hogged the headlines as he gave a thumbs-up. Watch the video here.

Rickelton Gets A Cut In South Africa's Champions Trophy 2025 Squad

It is worth noting that Rickelton boasts a great record in T20 cricket. He has only registered three single-digit scores in the last 14 innings and interestingly, all three of them have come against Paarl Royals. Talking about Rickelton, the southpaw received a major boost ahead of the match as he was selected for South Africa's squad for Champions Trophy 2025.
