In the ongoing BBL match between Sydney Thunder and Perth Scorchers at the Sydney Showground, the hosts are in a comfortable situation as they are on the course of another win. The visitors won the toss and opted to field first.

The Thunder, batting first, put 158 runs on the board courtesy of Sam Konstas' fifty. In reply, the Scorchers were thrown a difficult challenge by the Thunder bowlers. Finn Allen was the first to depart, followed by Sam Fanning, who fell short of his crease after a terrible mix-up with Aaron Hardie.

On the 3rd ball of the 2nd over, Hardie punched a shot towards the mid-on and called for a run. Fanning trusted his partner blindly but was asked to return to the non-strikers' end midway, and fell short of his crease as Chris Green made no mistake.

The Thunder are placed third on the table with nine points in eight matches. They have won four, lost three and one match resulted in no-result. This year, the Men in Green are playing under David Warner's captaincy and the former Australia opener is having a season to remember.

The southpaw started on a negative note, but since then he picked up pace and is currently the leading run-getter in BBL 2024-25. Warner has amassed 324 runs in eight innings, which includes three fifty-plus scores.
