In a highly anticipated elimination final of The Hundred Women 2024, Australian star batter Meg Lanning showcased her trademark batting class at the Kennington Oval on August 17. 

Chasing a target of 113 runs set by the Oval Invincibles Women, Lanning provided an early spark to London Spirit Women's innings with a brilliant boundary.

On the 20th ball of the chase, Lanning faced a full delivery outside off. In her signature style, she executed a flawless sweep shot, making perfect contact with the middle of her bat. 

The ball raced to the deep backward square leg boundary, adding four crucial runs to the scoreboard. The shot exemplified Lanning’s control and precision, keeping her team in the hunt.

Despite her strong start, Lanning’s innings came to an end after she scored 22 runs off 16 balls, studded with four boundaries. Her departure left London Spirit Women in a precarious position.

At the time of writing, London Spirit Women are at 56 for 2 in 53 balls, with Georgia Redmayne (WK) and captain Heather Knight at the crease, fighting to keep their hopes alive in the chase against Oval Invincibles Women.
