Their poor fitness levels played a pivotal role in their abysmal fielding, preventing them from giving their best in the marquee event.

As quoted by GeoSuper, Wasim Akram slammed the Pakistani cricketers for not keeping pace with the international fitness standards.

"I haven't talked much about this yet, and I don't have any inside news, but I knew about it two years ago — cricketers aren't focusing enough on their fitness," Wasim Akram said.

He even highlighted how the players' fitness cost Pakistan the World Cup, saying,

"Now, during the [T20] World Cup, the whole world saw just how good the fitness of our cricket team truly was," he added.

Regarding Pakistan, the Men in Green suffered a humiliating group-stage exit from the World Cup after losing close games to India and the United States.

Led by Shan Masood, Pakistan will host Bangladesh in a two-match Test series, with the first game scheduled in Rawalpindi.
