Marnus Labuschagne pulled off a stunning save at the boundary line for Brisbane Heat in their opening match of the 2024 BBL season. Fielding at deep midwicket, a sprinting Labuschagne dove to his left and deflected the ball inside the ropes to his teammate, all while having an on-mic chat with the on-air commentators.

Labuschagne kept the Melbourne Stars batters down to two runs with his fielding brilliance, before Heat eventually wrapped up the contest by a staggering 103-run margin.

Marnus Labuschagne took the field for Brisbane Heat in their opening BBL 2024 fixture against Melbourne Stars on December 7 at The Gabba. At a time when the hosts were comfortably poised to secure a big win, Labuschagne hurried across the boundary to save two runs for his side during the closing stages of the contest.

Remarkably, the cricketer did so while having a conversation with the on-air commentators.

Earlier in the game, Marnus Labuschagne scored 30 runs from 23 balls, and formed a crucial 84-run partnership with raging opener Colin Munro for the second wicket. Their contributions eventually lifted Brisbane Heat to a commendable 214-3 upfront in their 20 overs.

Heat bowlers Mitchell Swepson, Xavier Bartlett, and Michael Neser, among others, later restricted Melbourne Stars’ star-studded line-up to just 111, thus securing a 103-run win for their side.

Marnus Labuschagne, meanwhile, will soon be reuniting with his Australian teammates for their forthcoming home Test series against Pakistan. The batting maverick recently starred for his country in the final of the 2023 World Cup in India.

The first of Australia’s three upcoming Test matches against Pakistan will commence on December 14 at the iconic Perth Stadium.
