New Zealand's Mark Chapman showcased his fielding prowess with a stunning catch that turned heads during the Lanka Premier League (LPL) 2024 at the R. Premadasa Stadium, Colombo on 16 July.

The incident occurred during the 20th match between Dambulla Sixers and Colombo Strikers, where Chapman's catch stood out as a moment of brilliance.

Chapman's heroics unfolded in the 2nd over of Colombo Strikers' innings, as Nuwan Pradeep delivered a well-directed length ball. Muhammad Waseem, aiming to launch the ball over mid-on, mistimed his shot.

Sensing the opportunity, Chapman sprinted backwards, maintained his focus, and executed a perfect dive to his right. 

His acrobatic effort culminated in a clean catch, sending Waseem back to the pavilion after a brief cameo of 15 runs off 6 balls.

This catch marked Chapman's second notable contribution in the tournament, solidifying his reputation as a reliable fielder. 

Dambulla Sixers, bolstered by Chapman's fielding brilliance and an earlier total of 123 runs, defended their score resolutely. 

Despite Thisara Perera's valiant knock, Colombo fell short by 28 runs, handing Dambulla Sixers a well-deserved victory.
