Ahead of the squad announcement for ODI & T20I series against Sri Lanka, there are reports that Indian skipper Rohit Sharma will make himself available for the fifty-over series. 

Earlier, there were talks that the BCCI wants to give rest to veteran players including Sharma, but newly appointed head coach Gautam Gambhir is keen on having the hitman play in the upcoming tour. Thus, in the latest events, Cricbuzz reported that Rohit is likely to be available for selection for ODI series against Sri Lanka. 

The multi-format tour against Sri Lanka will kickstart on July 27 with the T20I series followed by  three ODIs.

The BCCI is likely to announce the squad today and as per reports, KL Rahul and Shreyas Iyer are set to return. 

Talking about Virat Kohli and Jasprit Bumrah, then two these stalwarts are likely to be rested and extend their break ahead of the crucial home Test series against Bangladesh. 

In case, Rohit does not make himself available for the ODI series, then KL Rahul is the frontrunner to lead the side, as reports suggest that Hardik Pandya will not take part in the fifty-over format because of personal reasons. 

In the T20Is, there are speculations that Suryakumar Yadav might pip Hardik Pandya to become India's new T20I captain till World Cup 2026 as Rohit announced his retirement from the shortest format of the game following the World Cup triumph.
