In a high-stakes game against Karachi Kings, Quetta Gladiators spin wizard Abrar Ahmed struck twice in an over to restrict the flow of runs. In an exemplary display of fine spin bowling, Abrar deceived big man Kieron Pollard with a sharp turn to end Karachi’s hopes of posting a par total.

The 16th matchup of the PSL 2024 season between Karachi Kings and Quetta Gladiators kicked off on a false note for the Kings as they lost their captain, Shan Masood, to Akeal Hosein in the first over.

While James Vince and Tim Seifert put up 50-run partnership to stabilize the innings, the Gladiators struck at regular intervals with disciplined execution with the ball.

Having said that, Kieron Pollard remained Karachi’s last hope to post a par total and somehow make a game out of it. Notably, Pollard has been in sublime form this PSL season and recently smashed Zalmi's bowling attack to register a terrific knock.

However, before Pollard could unleash his inner beast, mystery spinner Abrar Ahmed struck at the right hour. In the 17th over, Abrar bowled a flighted delivery to the stumps. Pollard’s eyes lit up as he made room to swing a big hit down the ground. But the ball turned away after hitting the deck and beat Pollard on the outside edge to hit the stumps.

Abrar Ahmed was spot on with the execution and roared in delight as he understood the importance of mighty Pollard’s wicket.

However, Ahmed’s night was only getting started. In the same over, Abrar bowled a tossed-up length delivery to Hasan Ali. Hasan, in a bid to attack, danced down the track to get under the pitch of the ball.

But the batter was late to reach and could only manage to get the bottom half of the bat and sliced it towards the point fielder where Akeal Hosein’s safe hands completed a regulation catch.

Within the blink of an eye, Abrar Ahmed had turned the game in Quetta’s favor. His twin strike surely made a difference of 10-15 runs to Karachi’s final total.
