Marcus Stoinis gave Australia a much-required breakthrough on Friday (October 20) during Australia's do-or-die World Cup match against Pakistan in Bengaluru. The stylish all-rounder struck as early as on the first ball of the day to dismiss Abdullah Shafique, and no wonder he was pumped up after his success.

Chasing a huge target of 368, the Men in Green got off to a perfect start against the Kangaroos, as Shafique and Imam-ul-Haq added more than 100 runs at a quick pace without losing their wickets. Five-time champions Australia, who lost two of their opening three encounters this season, were in a spot of bother after their partnership.

Therefore, when nothing was working out in their favour, skipper Pat Cummins brought Marcus Stoinis into the attack. The move worked perfectly, as Stoinis began the 22nd over with a sharp bouncer.  Shafique went for a pull, but was beaten by extra bounce and the pace.

The ball went straight up in the air, and Glenn Maxwell took an easy catch at short mid-wicket to end Shafique's stay after a brilliant 61-ball 64.

At the time of writing, Stoinis just got well-set Imam-ul-Haq's wicket as well. Pakistan, as of now, are on 159/2 after 24 overs.
