When everyone thought Pakistan would come back against Australia in a crucial World Cup 2023 fixture in Bengaluru, Babar Azam, the captain of the ship, casually fielded the ball, and let the momentum go in the process.

It all happened during the 35th over of Australia’s innings when Steve Smith, batting on 1 off 2 deliveries, tried to push Usama Mir forward, only to get a thick outside edge. Babar, placed at first slip, was not ready for it, and thus, he failed to catch a simple one.

As Pakistan struggled to get wickets throughout the innings, Babar’s effort was disappointed, and it made as many as three dropped opportunities.

Smith, however, failed to make full use of the given chance. The former Australian captain fell to the same bowler four overs later, as Mir took an excellent caught and bowled to send him back to the pavilion after a paltry nine-ball seven.

At the time of writing, David Warner is taking Australia to a massive total. They have reached 295/3 in 39.3 overs, with Warner batting on 144* off 114 balls.
