In the 11th match of the Women’s Asia Cup 2024 at the Rangiri Dambulla International Stadium, a moment of brilliance from Aisya Eleesa provided a crucial breakthrough for Malaysia Women against Bangladesh Women.

After winning the toss and electing to field, Malaysia was looking for an early wicket to gain momentum.

The breakthrough came in the 8th over of the Bangladesh innings. Mahira Izzati Ismail, the off-spinner, was brought into the attack and delivered a flighted off-break around off-stump.

Bangladesh batter Dilara Akter, attempting a sweep shot, misjudged the delivery, connecting poorly with the toe end of the bat. Positioned at forward square leg, Eleesa anticipated the shot and executed a full-length dive to complete a sensational catch.
