In a groundbreaking development, the renowned Mumbai Indians are considering replacing Mark Boucher with Rahul Dravid as their new coach ahead of the Indian Premier League's 2025 season.

In Dravid's coaching tenure, India recently ended an eleven-year-long ICC trophy drought, claiming their second T20 World Cup title on the Caribbean soil.

Dravid's coaching contract expired after the team's clinical win over South Africa in the final in Barbados.

MI considering Dravid for head coach in IPL 2025

According to a recent report by Cricbuzz, multiple franchises have shown interest in Dravid for the head coach role.

Five-time IPL champions Mumbai Indians are also in the race, as they are planning to rope in the India veteran into their coaching setup.

"Rahul Dravid is being pursued by multiple franchises and there is a lot of attention on Mumbai Indians - vis-a-vis Mark Boucher," the report stated.

Mark Boucher received massive backlash for his unsuccessful coaching stint with MI after the team's disastrous run in the IPL 2024.

After replacing Rohit Sharma with Hardik Pandya as their captain, Mumbai Indians finished last in the points table, managing only four wins in fourteen matches.

The team's abysmal performance seems to be why MI is considering replacing the legendary South African with Dravid.

As reported earlier, Dravid has also been approached by his former IPL franchise, Rajasthan Royals, for the head coach's job.

Thus, considering his recent success, the Indian great is expected to bag a lucrative coaching contract ahead of the next season.
