Karachi Kings' opening batter and skipper Shan Masood had to return back to the pavilion in the second over of the game against Peshawar Zalmi courtesy of an outstanding delivery from Peshawar Zalmi's Luke Wood.

Chasing 155 for the win, Karachi's openers Masood and Muhammad Akhlaq lost their wickets early to Wood in the powerplay itself as the left-armer bowled two brilliant deliveries to pull his side back in the game.

Masood, batting in the second over, tried playing a pull on the leg side but couldn't time the shot well as he top-edged it into the hands of deep backward square leg where Rovman Powell was stationed.

Left-hander's innings ended on 12 from 10 deliveries where he could find two boundaries but couldn't continue to stay on the crease for long. His departure happened on the second delivery of the third over when the side's score was just 20.

However, after three overs, his opening partner Akhlaq lost his wicket too in the fifth over to the same bowler while playing a massive heave coming down the track but, unfortunately, only managed to edge it straight up in the air, which was again caught.

Wood's fiery spell caused some problems for Karachi as they were two down for 48 after the end of the powerplay. The pace bowler has delivered three overs for nine runs and dismissed two batters by the time of writing.

Earlier, Babar Azam's counter-attacking 51-ball 72 took Peshawar to the par total of 154 while their opposition, by the end of 15 overs, were 137 for the loss of three wickets.
