Lizelle Lee has been in sensational form in the Women’s Big Bash League (WBBL) 2024. The Hobart Hurricanes opener has been smashing runs and breaking records and with her latest innings against the Adelaide Strikersm she showed just how powerful she can be. Lee hit her second century in a row, making her the first woman in WBBL history to do so.
Lee’s Power Shot Breaks Bat But Ball Still Clears the Boundary
One shot from Lee’s innings had everyone talking. On just the second ball of the second over, Lizelle Lee stepped forward and smacked a full delivery from Orla Prendergast straight down the ground for a no-look six.
The shot had so much power, it actually broke her bat – but the ball still cleared the boundary. It was the perfect start to an unforgettable knock.
Lee Smashes Back-To-Back Centuries
Lee didn’t stop there. She went on to score 103 off 59 balls, smashing 13 fours and 4 sixes before being run out. Thanks to her blazing innings, Hobart Hurricanes put up a big total of 191/2 in their 20 overs.
This century comes right after her last game against Perth Scorchers, where she blasted an unbeaten 150 off just 75 balls, breaking the WBBL record for the highest score. Lee didn’t just break Grace Harris’s record of 136*, she also hit 12 sixes – a new record for the most sixes in a women’s T20 match.
Lee’s batting has been pure entertainment for WBBL fans. Her partner, Nicola Carey, just sat back and watched as Lee sent ball after ball into the stands.
Even though she stepped away from international cricket, Lee is showing everyone she’s still got it. With two back-to-back centuries, Lizelle Lee is making this WBBL season one to remember.
