In the ongoing WBBL, Sydney Thunder Women are playing against Perth Scorchers Women in Match No. 24 at Drummoyne Oval in Sydney. A moment of brilliance on the field caught the attention when Sydney Thunder's wicket keeper Tahlia Wilson showcased her brilliance of the field that resulted in a costly run-out for Perth Scorchers’ star opener Beth Mooney.

Talking about the match, after losing the toss, Sydney Thunder were put to the field as Scorchers’ captain Sophie Devine opted to bat first. However, this decision quickly backfired with Mooney's early departure added pressure on the Scorchers lineup.

Beth Mooney Departs With Stunning Throw From Wilson

The turning point came in the second over of the innings when Mooney faced an unfortunate dismissal. Samantha Bates delivered a fuller-length ball outside off, which was guided by Chloe Piparo towards cover point. Mooney, sensing an opportunity for a quick single, charged down the pitch but was left stranded halfway as Piparo stayed in.

Tahlia Wilson, showcased her sharp reflexes, and executed a direct hit at the bowler’s end, catching Beth Mooney short despite a desperate full-length dive. The TV umpire's confirmation sent Mooney back to the pavilion for just 7 runs.

Hemalatha and Devine Shine For Scorchers

Despite the early blow, Perth Scorchers managed to recover, thanks to a steady partnership between Dayalan Hemalatha and Sophie Devine. Hemalatha played a well-composed knock of 41 runs, while Devine, leading from the front, smashed 48 runs, pushing the Scorchers to a competitive total. Their resilient efforts allowed the Scorchers to post a challenging score of 171 runs, giving their bowlers something to defend.

Sydney Thunder, however, had their own struggles as they began their chase. The Scorchers struck early, dismissing Chamari Athapaththu for a duck, followed shortly by the wicket of Georgia Voll, who managed only 8 runs. At the time of writing, Phoebe Litchfield and Heather Knight are batting at the crease and Thunder Women need 125 runs in 72 balls.
