The Lord's cricket ground witnessed a display of sensational swing bowling from Southern Brave Women's pacer, Lauren Bell in Match 11 of The Hundred 2023 Women.

Bell's magnificent in-swinging delivery cleaned up London Spirit Women opener, Grace Harris, a moment that stood out in an exciting rain-curtailed contest.

After being put into bat first by Southern Brave Women's captain, Anya Shrubsole, London Spirit Women found the going tough right from the beginning. Bell, entrusted with bowling the opening five, stunned the crowd with her pace and precision.

The 22-year-old prodigious speedster's piece de resistance came on the fifth delivery as she bowled a devastating inswinger. Attempting to drive, Harris’ defence was pierced as the ball found its way to the top of the middle stump, sending her back to the pavilion for a solitary run.



Though Bell's spell read an impressive 24 runs off 20 balls with that standout wicket, London Spirit Women, courtesy of their captain Heather Knight's brisk 44 off 27 and Danielle Gibson's 29 off 20, managed a competitive total of 104/5 in 85 balls. Georgia Adams was the pick of the bowlers for the Brave Women with figures of 4/11 from her 20 balls.

In response, Southern Brave Women faced early jitters with their star batter Smriti Mandhana dismissed without troubling the scorers. Danielle Wyatt and the middle order also collapsed without making any substantial contributions

However, a determined Maia Bouchier, who came in at No. 3 anchored the chase with a crucial fifty. Her partnership with Maitlan Brown, who struck three back-to-back boundaries towards the end, tilted the game towards the Brave Women. 

Bouchier fittingly sealed the match with a boundary and remained not out on 63 off 42 balls with 10 boundaries.
