South Africa's renowned batter Aiden Markram recorded another failure, as he was castled by a beauty from Lahiru Kumara in the ongoing second Test against Sri Lanka in Gqeberha. Opening the batting for South Africa, Markram managed 20 runs before Kumara cleaned him up with a peach.
The incident occurred during the twelfth over of South Africa's first innings when Markram was trying to steady the ship alongside Ryan Rickelton following Tony de Zorzi's dismissal. However, Sri Lanka's experienced speedster Lahiru Kumara had other ideas, castling the batter with a magnificent seaming delivery.
From over the wicket, Kumara bowled a full length delivery that jagged back into Aiden Markram after pitching around the off-stump. As the ball was full, Markram got tempted to play a drive.
However, as it wasn't over-pitched, the South African batter couldn't succeed in his mission, with the ball sneaking through the gap between his bat and pad and shattering his middle stump. With Markram's wicket, Kumara completed 100 scalps in Test cricket.

After winning the toss and opting to bat first, the Proteas had a forgettable start to their first innings, losing Tony de Zorzi for a duck. As soon as Lahiru Kumara got his 100th scalp, the in-form Tristan Stubbs joined Rickelton in the middle. At the time of writing, South Africa were 44 for two, with Stubbs and Rickelton batting on 4* and 19*, respectively.
