Tristan Stubbs is one of the most talented young cricketers in world cricket and has been in great form in recent times. He has scored runs across formats for South Africa and now has notched up back-to-back hundreds. The first of those centuries came in Chattogram last month against Bangladesh, and now in completely different conditions in Durban, he has excelled again with the bat against Sri Lanka.
South Africa and Sri Lanka are currently playing the first Test match at Kingsmead, Durban and the Proteas are dominating the game at the moment. They scored 191 in the first innings, and in reply Sri Lanka were bundled out for just 42. The home team with a massive lead in their kitty are now batting quite well in the second innings and Stubbs along with Bavuma are leading the way.
Temba Bavuma-Stubbs Take South Africa To A Strong Position
Stubbs walked out to bat at number four with South Africa two down for 77 and after the wicket of Markram, he and Bavuma have notched up a stand of over 200 runs. Stubbs is a naturally aggressive cricketer and he played some scintillating shots in this match too. He hit seven fours and two sixes in his knock, and got to his second Test century in consecutive games in 183 balls. Temba Bavuma, on the other hand, is also closing in on century and he also played a brilliant knock of 70 in the first innings.
Overall, South Africa are in a driver's seat, and the series is an important one for them as they look to qualify for their first WTC final.
