India latest pacer Harshit Rana faced a tough time during the second Test against Australia at the Adelaide Oval. In a single over on Day 2, he was hit for four boundaries, conceding 17 runs in the process. Both Travis Head and Marnus Labuschagne took turns punishing the young bowler in the 51st over of Australia’s first innings under the pink-ball conditions.
The over began with Travis Head striking a boundary off a full delivery outside the off stump. Rana’s attempt to recover was short-lived as Head managed a single on the next ball, bringing Marnus Labuschagne on strike.
From there, things went downhill. Labuschagne guided a short-of-length delivery past backward point for a boundary on the third ball. On the very next delivery, he repeated the act, this time dabbing it past gully with ease. Rana’s short-pitched deliveries outside the off stump lacked the precision to trouble the well-set Labuschagne.
The final ball of the over added salt to Rana’s wounds as Labuschagne stayed tall to pull another short ball through the gap between deep mid-wicket and backward square leg for his third boundary of the over.
By the end of the over, Harshit Rana had given away 17 runs, facing the brutal precision of Labuschagne and Head.
