Mitchell Starc, the Australian pacer, explained that there was nothing special about the way he got India young star Yashasvi Jaiswal out on the very first ball of the day during the second Test between India and Australia at the Adelaide Oval. Starc opened up that he just focused on keeping a steady line and length, aiming to bowl at the stumps and hit the batter's pads. This simple approach worked, as Jaiswal, who had scored a big century in Perth, was out for a golden duck.

Mitchell Starc Opens Up On Jaiswal's Wicket

Starc was the standout performer on Day 1, taking 6 wickets for 48 runs to bowl India out for just 180. He set the tone early by dismissing Jaiswal, followed by taking the wickets of KL Rahul and Virat Kohli. Starc’s opening wicket gave Australia an early psychological advantage over India's batters.

He said, "At the stumps, hit the pads. That’s it. Nothing special. My job is to attack the stumps and make early breakthroughs, so I’m pleased with how it went." He also emphasised the importance of making early inroads into India’s batting lineup.

"That’s been my role for a while: to attack the stumps and try and make early inroads. Pleased to sneak one past today. We know how important it is to make early inroads into this batting lineup,” he added.

Starc added that it’s always good to start with a wicket, especially in such a big series. Despite the early success, he reminded everyone that they need to stay focused in the second innings.

In Perth Test, Jaiswal had been out for a duck in the first innings but had scored an impressive 161 in the second innings to help India win by 295 runs. At the end of Day 1 of the Pink-Ball Test, Australia were 86/1, trailing by 94 runs with Marnus Labuschagne and Nathan McSweeney at the crease, 20* and 38* respectively.
