At a crucial juncture of the ongoing Test match between India and England in Vizag, Kuldeep Yadav seemingly defied Ravichandran Ashwin’s valuable advice and ended up playing a rash shot, which cost him his wicket on Day 3.

After Yashasvi Jaiswal and skipper Rohit Sharma fell victim to James Anderson’s brilliance in the morning session of Day 3, Shubman Gill averted disaster.

The out-of-form batter bounced back with a stylish hundred to silence his critics and also saved India from a humiliating collapse.

While Axar Patel also contributed significantly with 45 runs, both Gill and Patel returned to the dressing room right before the tea break.

Regardless, Ravichandran Ashwin was determined to rebuild the innings with tail-ender Kuldeep Yadav. In the very first over of the final session, Kuldeep was looking unconformable. Thus, Ashwin, as a senior, shared a few words of wisdom to calm the spinner down.

However, Kuldeep Yadav ignored the veteran’s advice and ended up playing a rash shot to gift his wicket to England. Yadav tried to slog sweep Tom Hartley’s tossed-up delivery for a boundary.

However, the tail-ender couldn’t get the execution right and could only manage to get a thick top edge, which went straight to Ben Duckett at mid-wicket.

Needless to say, the aggression from Kuldeep Yadav was absolutely unnecessary when India had lost three wickets in quick succession. All he had to do was support Ashwin from one end.

Regardless, the damage was already done as Ashwin watched the disaster unfold in dismay.

That being said, the Vizag Test currently hangs in the balance. These four quick wickets allowed England a way back into the game against the odds.

Still, the hosts have managed to set up a healthy and towering lead to put the Englishmen under pressure ahead of the daunting chase.
