Punjab Kings' rising star Shashank Singh recorded a rare failure with the bat in the ongoing IPL 2024 clash against Rajasthan Royals. Coming at number six, Shashank could only score a run-a-ball nine before Kuldeep Sen dismissed him with a pacy delivery. 

The incident occurred during the 13th over of Punjab's innings when they were struggling to accelerate with the bat. 

As soon as RR skipper Sanju Samson brought Kuldeep back into the attack, Shashank perished while trying to break the shackles. 

Kuldeep started his over with a pacy hard-length delivery, as Shashank tried to hoik the ball over the leg side. 

However, he couldn't time it properly, with the ball being caught safely near the deep mid-wicket boundary by Dhruv Jurel. 

Thus, Shashank, who emerged as the hero for the Kings against Gujarat Titans, departed for only nine runs, letting his team down in this crucial face-off. 

After his departure, Punjab lost the prized wicket of Jitesh Sharma, who was looking set in the middle. The Vidarbha batter scored 29 runs off 24 balls before Avesh Khan removed him with a hard-length delivery. 

As of writing, the hosts were tottering at 123 for six, with Ashutosh Sharma and Liam Livingstone batting on 9* and 21*, respectively.
