England's veteran batter Jonny Bairstow continued his poor run in the ongoing Indian Premier League season, being dismissed cheaply in Punjab Kings' ongoing group-stage encounter against Rajasthan Royals.

South Africa's premier spinner Keshav Maharaj emerged as his nemesis, getting rid of him for a sloth-paced 19-ball 15.

The incident occurred during the eighth over of Punjab's innings when RR skipper Sanju Samson brought Maharaj into the attack to break the budding stand between Bairstow and Sam Curran.

His decision proved to be a masterstroke, as the experienced left-arm spinner got him on his final delivery.

Maharaj started his over on a positive note, conceding only five runs in his first five balls. He finished things on a high, dismissing the acclaimed batter with a beautiful delivery.

It was a tossed-up ball, drawing Bairstow into a drive. However, as the batter went for an uppish shot, he ended up playing it straight to Shimron Hetmyer, who held on to a simple catch.

Following the dismissal, Maharaj thanked his idol Lord Ram while doing his trademark 'namaste' celebration. He continued his onslaught on the hosts, dismissing Sam Curran in his next over.

As of writing, the Kings were reeling at 56 for four in 10.3 overs, with Jitesh Sharma and Shashank Singh unbeaten in the middle.
