Former Indian U-19 player, Saurabh Netravalkar, now representing United States Cricket, masterminded a spectacular victory for the Washington Freedom (WF) against the San Francisco Unicorns (SFU) on Sunday.

Netravalkar's powerplay double blow shook Unicorns' chase

His outstanding spell proved instrumental in their victory over the San Francisco Unicorns (SFU), thus securing their top spot in the tournament with a third consecutive win.

During his deadly spell, what stood out was his impressive double dismissal of Marcus Stoinis and Shadab Khan within three balls which turned out to be a decisive blow that sent shockwaves through the Unicorns' camp. Courtesy of the twin wicket over, SFU was left reeling at 25-3, struggling to chase the modest 134-run target set by the Washington Freedom.

Netravalkar exploited the swing-friendly conditions to his advantage.  Stoinis was outwitted by the bowler's uncanny swing, misreading the trajectory of the ball and creating a fatal breach between bat and pad. The result: a shattered leg stump and an early retreat for the Aussie all-rounder with just three runs to his name.

Next in line was Shadab as he also fell prey to Netravalkar's artful inswing. His ambitious cover drive was no match for the deceiving swing, leading to a disarray of stumps and his exit for a two-ball duck.

Despite the modest target, the Unicorns stumbled and were all out for 103 in 19.5 overs, falling 30 runs short of the target. Netravalkar, however, was relentless as he went on to claim four more wickets, wrapping up the SFU innings with stunning figures of 6-9.

The left-handed pacer's sublime bowling display steered Washington Freedom to a comfortable victory, bolstering their position at the top of the table.
