West Indies responded robustly to India's daunting total of 438 during Day 2 of the ongoing Test match at Queen’s Park Oval in Port of Spain, Trinidad.

Showcasing their best batting display of the series, they adroitly tackled India's spinners and ended the post-lunch session with only a single wicket loss, going into Tea at 174/3.

WI vs IND Day 3, 2nd Session: Talking Points

Navigating the spinners: Brathwaite and Blackwood

Resuming the post-lunch session at 117/2, the West Indies were led by a determined partnership between skipper Kraigg Brathwaite and Jermaine Blackwood. The captain swiftly accumulated his half-century, while the duo adeptly neutralized the threat of the Indian spinners in the first hour. Brathwaite wisely scored off the weaker deliveries, whereas Blackwood held his own through solid defense.

Mukesh Kumar puts up a fight

Indian debutant Mukesh Kumar demonstrated impressive bowling after Tea, aggressively targeting the stumps, a challenge that was effectively met by the West Indian batters.

Ashwin breaks through with spectacular delivery

With little action on the pitch, Ravichandran Ashwin finally succeeded with a phenomenal delivery that stormed past Brathwaite's defense, dismissing him for a determined 75 off 235 balls, marking the seventh time the offie has ousted the Windies captain.

Athanaze and Blackwood resist

Following Brathwaite's dismissal, Alick Athanaze joined Blackwood in building a mindful partnership. Athanaze made his presence felt by dispatching Ashwin for consecutive boundaries in an over. He was later trapped in front of the wicket by Ashwin, but a successful DRS review saved him. The pair skillfully managed to prevent further loss, concluding the session unscathed.

Expectations from the third session

West Indies will aim to build on their positive performance and narrow the 264-run deficit, while India will seek to secure a few swift wickets during the final session to conclude the day on a high note.
